About Dr Amali


Dr. Amali Navaratna is a compassionate doctor with almost 16 years of experience in both hospital settings and primary care. She holds a Fellowship of Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and a Diploma in Child Health from the University of Sydney and Sydney Children’s health network. She believes in taking a holistic approach to patient care from neonates to the elderly. She has expertise in many areas of family medicine, including chronic disease management, dermatology, mental health, women’s health, and children’s health. She provides the highest quality of care to all her patients and constantly keeps up to date with knowledge in her field with various continuous professional development activities.


Since working as a GP Visiting Medical Officer (VMO) with the Western Sydney Diabetes team she is passionate in the primary prevention of diabetes in the community and looking after those with diabetes with the help of their other health stakeholders such as allied health teams and endocrinologists.


Dr Amali is an empathetic doctor, always striving to keep her patient’s safety and well-being in the forefront of every decision she makes. Her passion for what she does is evident in her commitment to her patients. She believes in addressing the whole person in her practice and she strives to consider physical, mental, and emotional factors when treating her patients.


In her spare time, she loves to get out into the great outdoors and enjoy the fresh air. She finds the peace and tranquillity of reading a book and being surrounded by nature to be a great way to relax and recharge. Dr. Amali is a lover of both nature and literature, an avid reader, and a dedicated mother of two children.
